Wade Horace Greening was born in 1798 Sumter, SC and died in 1854 in Milton, Florida, where he had only recently removed from Conecuh Co, Ala.  He was closely associated with Dr. Milton Amos, (early settler of Conecuh Co, Ala.), for whom the town of Milton, Fla., was named.
Wade H. Greening was a graduate of Lexington College. (Ref: Haynsworth & Allied Families) 
He served as Register in the Sparta Land office from 1828 to 1850, being appointed by five presidents. (see below)  He was also Postmaster at Sparta, Conecuh Co, Ala from 1827-1831 and again from 1835-1839; Some records show he was also a Physician.

The Greening family sold their plantation in Sumter, SC in December, 1818, (Deed Rec'd. Jany, 1819)  and removed to Alabama.

Know all men by these presents, that I, Wade H. Greening for and in consideration of the amount of one thousand dollars, have bargained, and sold and by these presents do bargain and sell  unto Eldridge S. Greening , his heirs & assigns, the following Negroes, to wit:  
A Negro man named Bob, about twenty one yrs of age, and a Negro girl named Juliet, aged about sixteen yrs. of age, the above Negroes more described from my father's Estate; and I do warrant and defend the said Negroes from the claim or claims of all and every person forever, whatsoever..
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 10th day of March, 1821.

State of alabama: Be in known that I, Eldredge Greeening, do hereby appoint Jacob D. Wemple  of the Parish of Desoto, La. my agent in fact to represent me & to sell any and all slaves that I shall receive from the succession of Augustus C. Greening, deceased, for my use and benefit or for the use and benefit of my family, and to execute the necessary deed in my name to the purchaser and to receive the cash and notes for the same.  I further authorize my said attorney to sue for partition of any and all property now held in indivision between me and my brother, Franklin Greening, or to execute any act of partition should he think best so to do, in any of the Courts of the State of Louisiana, or to be sued for the same, & I further authorize my said agent to sell my interest in the said succession of my deceased brother Augustus, aforesaid, for my use & benefit or to that of my family and to execute the necessary deeds to the purchaser for the same  and receive the notes & cash therefrom and give all necessary receipts. The cash of those proceeds of each sale to be paid over to my wife, Emeline Greening, or to myself. Signed: Eldredge Greening
